A dramatic and breathtaking amethyst link necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This stunning piece is comprised of 16 faceted amethyst stones resting in an ornate 15kt yellow gold setting. The oval-shaped stones are of exceptional quality, and graduate outward, with the largest stones resting at the center. A gorgeous cannetille wirework border surrounds each prong set stone, and is embellished with fine beadwork that creates a subtle scalloped edge. The stones rest in an open back setting, allowing light to pass through and catch the facets beautifully with every movement, showcasing their regal purple hues. A complimentary cannetille wirework connector attaches each link together, forming a straight but flexible line that rests perfectly along the neckline. Seamlessly hidden within the final link is a push clasp and safety chain with a spring ring clasp, for added security. Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting and all of the amethyst stones are secure and intact. The clasp and security chain with spring ring clasp are secure and in good working condition.
