A one-of-a-kind insect pin from the Victorian (ca1850s) era! Crafted in 18k gold and sterling silver, this pin depicts a spider approaching a small fly! The abdomen of the spider is represented by a large blister pearl, which displays a lovely grayish-white luster. The thorax, legs, and head of the arachnid are encrusted with rose cut diamonds, which are held within bead and bezel-settings. The eyes of the spider are represented by 2, small, bezel-set rubies. The thorax of the small fly is also represented by a bezel-set ruby, and the terrified bug's eyes are bezel-set emeralds. The wings of the fly are decorated with additional, bead-set rose cut diamonds. The tip of the pin features an additional, decorative pearl. Overall, the diamonds which adorn the pin have an approximate total carat weight of 1.25ctw. The piece is completed by a solid gold pin clasp. A truly unique piece, this pin would make a fantastic addition to any Victorian-era jewelry collection!
