The Story

A fabulous etched gold padlock bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in vibrant 14k gold, this beautiful bracelet is comprised of large alternating links that interlock to form a chunky bracelet that is wonderfully lightweight. The links alternate between large mariner links, which are decorated with intricate etchings, and three diamond-faceted rolo links. The bracelet fastens together at a large gold padlock clasp that has also been etched on the front with a stunning, scrolled design in a floral motif. Laying in the center of the etched face is a striking red garnet in a bezel setting and the reverse side of the padlock features a small glass locket holding a lock of hair. The shank of the padlock is hinged, allowing it to open and close and ask as a locking clasp. An additional safety chain hangs from each side of the clasp. A stunning example of Victorian link bracelets, this would make a perfect addition to any collection!

Measurements: The bracelet measures 8 1/4" long. Each link is 1" long, 5/8" wide, and slightly less than 1/4" thick. The padlock measures slightly less than 1 1/2" tall, approximately 1" wide, and 1/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. There is some minor surface wear to the silver gilt, which is not unusual for a Victorian piece, and is not noticeable when worn. The padlock clasp is in good working condition.
