A lovely compass pendant from the Late Victorian era (1901)! This double-sided piece features a working compass set within a sterling silver bezel setting with a lovely twisted rope motif. The compass face features delicate black and deep red directional indices atop a yellow border. The weighted compass needle spins under the clear crystal windows that allow light to pass through the reversible design's center. A silver ring and bail are attached to the top, perfect for hanging the piece from a favorite chain or charm bracelet. The bottom of the pendant is stamped with "C.E.A", an anchor, a lion, and the letter B, indicating it was crafted in 1901 in Birmingham, England by the silversmith Charles Edward Adams. A wonderful Victorian collector's item, this compass would make a lovely addition to any collection!
Measurements: The compass hangs approximately 1 3/8" long (including the bail), and is approximately 1 1/8" in diameter, and is 1/4" thick.
Condition: The compass pendant is in overall excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting or to the ring bail, which is secure. There is minimal, normal wear to the surface of the crystal which is free of chips and deep scratches.
