The Story

A beautiful flower locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This lovely piece is crafted in sterling silver with colorful gold mixed metals accents. A feminine floral motif graces the front surface, comprised of a blooming rose gold flower with green gold leaves. Engraved details provide texture to the design, and a scalloped rose gold border that surrounds the central image. A delicate beadwork pattern decorates the outer edge, a wonderful finishing touch! When opened, the interior of the locket reveals two open spaces, perfect for storing special photographs inside. The piece hangs from a fluted sterling bail at the top, perfect for hanging from a favorite chain. A lovely example of Victorian artistry, this locket would make a special keepsake addition to any collection!

Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 1/4" long, including the bail. The oval locket itself measures 1 3/4" tall, 1 3/8" wide, and 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or gold mixed metals details. The locket opens easily and snaps securely shut, and the bail is securely attached. Inside the locket are several hand etched marks, which are not noticeable when the piece is worn, or if photos are kept inside. There is a natural patina on the surface of the silver, which is a normal characteristic of antique jewelry. However, it can be polished if a brighter look is desired.
