Victorian Sterling French Paste Bangle Bracelet

French paste is a vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700's, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.

This gorgeous bracelet from the Victorian period (ca1880) is a wonderful example of antique French paste jewelry! Made of sterling silver, this stunning piece is lined with large French paste stones that cover the entire outer surface of the bangle. Each French paste stone rests in a modified belcher setting and is a faceted old mine cut. The stones sparkle beautifully within their foil-backed setting, which emits subtle golden hues that show through the center of each crystal when turned in the light. The bracelet is hinged and clasps on the side with an added safety chain for extra security. A stylish everyday piece, it makes a unique statement and is perfect for wearing with other favorite bangles!

Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 1/4" wide and approximately 2" tall, and would fit nicely on a small to medium sized wrist. The surface is approximately 3/8" wide.

Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting or French paste stones, all of which are intact and securely set. The clasp and safety chain are secure and in good working condition.
